Using your platform's randomizer the right way

Last updated 2026-11-04 · 3 min read

Use the randomizer that your platform provides, run it on screen where buyers can see it, and save the result with the time. Do not run your own tool off screen. This is the single habit that does the most for buyer trust.

  • Buyers can see it happen. A result on screen, produced by a tool the platform runs, is much harder to question.
  • It is often required. Some platforms and countries require their own randomizer for break formats that assign teams or slots. Whatnot's UK policy, for example, requires its built-in feature and bans third-party randomizers. Other platforms have similar or stricter rules. Always read the current policy for your platform and country.
  • It leaves a record. Whatnot describes its randomizer as built on an open-source library, with assignment records, on trust.whatnot.com/card-breaks.

Rules change often. Some platforms have restricted certain formats entirely. Check before you plan a show.

  1. Lock the spot list first. Before you touch the randomizer, show who owns every spot. Do not change the list afterward.
  2. Run the randomizer on screen. Do not cut away, and do not do it off camera.
  3. Read the result out loud. Say each buyer and their team or slot.
  4. Keep the result. Take a screenshot, and note the time. Save it with the rest of your show records.
  5. Do not rerun it. If something went wrong, say so on stream and follow the platform's rules for what to do. Do not quietly run it again.

It locks the spot list before the draw, saves a copy of the platform's result with a time, and logs every hit after it. Buyers can open a link and check that nothing changed. If your platform has its own randomizer, you use that. Breaker OS is the notebook, not the dice.

  • Do not use a third-party randomizer on platforms that ban them.
  • Do not draw before the list is locked.
  • Do not edit results after the fact. If you made a mistake, correct it openly with a reason.
  • Do not promise outcomes. Describe the format and let the tool do its job.

If you used Breaker OS, point buyers to the verify link. If you did not save the result, you have nothing to show, which is the best reason to save it every time.

Read yours before every new format.
